The Void-Pole Chawan is a 7" hand-thrown stoneware Teabowl for Matcha & Tea preparation or daily use. It showcases hand-painted cobalt-blue Chinese calligraphy and decorative underpainting on Alberta Plainsman clay body with mica speckles. A clear food-safe glaze covers all but the rustic base, allowing for a variety of utility and fine-art uses. The bowl has a fine sidewall in an 'S' silhouette honouring tenmoku styles, with subtle glaze effects rewarding close examination, along with quotation from daoist literature. Wabi gesture is embraced in bruswork, glaze application, and throwing/trimming form to highlight excellent craftsmanship and traditional artistry. Made in Canada by William Austin.
